Founding Member & Vice President
Omar Sarfraz Cheema is one of the founding members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He joined PTI in 1996 and contested the 1997, 2002 and 2004 elections as a PTI candidate. He worked in the party organization at tehsil, district, province and central level. He has been a member CEC since 1997. He holds significance in the party’s leadership today. He notably served as the Governor of Punjab in 2022 after his appointment by Imran Khan, and has remained loyal to the PTI for a long time. He is currently serving as the vice president of PTI. His house was raided at 4:00 AM on the morning of May 10 2022 and was abducted to an undisclosed location.
He has been held in prison since 2023 and has been incarcerated while being denied proper facilities while imprisoned by authorities in fabricated cases. His wife, Rabia Sultan was also detained, exposing the face of the unlawful crackdown on PTI leaders and their family members. He has been suffering from severe illness and extreme pain, requiring urgent surgery. Despite recommendations from both doctors and judges, authorities have denied him any surgery. Despite his poor conditions, he remains unwaveringly loyal to Imran Khan, PTI and for a better Pakistan.
