Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & President PTI KPK
Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is a senior politician who is currently serving as the 18th Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and has been in office since 2 March 2024. He has been elected a Member of the KPK Assembly for the second time in the 2024 elections. He is a senior member of PTI as he has been a party member for over a decade. He is also the President of PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkwa. As Chief Minister, he enacted the restoration and expansion of the Sehat Insaf Card and began the KP Solar Scheme to bring affordable electricity to a planned 130,000 Pakistanis in Khyber Pakhtunkwa. He has also supported environmental and social reforms including projects to decrease deforestation and poverty.
Ali Amin Gandapur belongs to a politically active Gandapur tribe of Pashtuns from Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan, his late father Major (retd) Aminullah Gandapur having served as a caretaker cabinet member under Pervez Musharraf. Aminullah passed away in 2024.His brother Sardar Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur is also a politician. He completed his early education at Saint Helen’s High School, Dera Ismail Khan. Due to his keen interest in sports as a squash player, he shifted to Peshawar and matriculated from the Police Model School. He later received his BA from Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan.
He earlier got elected as member KP Assembly in 2013 General Elections from the platform of PTI and was appointed as Minister for Revenue & Estate Department by the than Chief Minister. In 2018 General Elections he was elected as MNA from the platform of PTI and served as Federal Minister Government of Pakistan. He served as the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan from 5 October 2018 to 10 April 2022. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023. He contested his first election in 2013, winning in PK-94 Dera Ismail Khan, he would win again later on in 2018. He contested 2 seats, PK-97 Dera Ismail Khan City 1, and NA-38, winning both seats. In 2024, he was elected again to a seat in the Provincial Assembly, winning in PK-113 Dera Ismail Khan.
During his tenure as Chief Minister, he has supported bringing more governmental focus to merged tribal districts and has began the Billion Tree Plus Project, KP Solar Scheme, a project to rebuild and revitalize Khyber Pakhtunkwa’s major cities including Peshawar, a Qu’ran distribution center in Peshawar, Local Governments property lease reforms, a GIS Mapping program, additional focus for auqaf properties and many more projects.
