Imran Khan is a prominent Pakistani politician, former cricketer, and the founder of the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan from August 2018 until April 2022.

Early Life and Cricket Career:

Born: October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan.

Cricket Career: Imran Khan gained international fame as one of the greatest cricket players in the world. He led the Pakistan cricket team to its first and only Cricket World Cup victory in 1992.

Education: Khan was educated at Aitchison College in Lahore, the Royal Grammar School in Worcester, UK, and later at Keble College, Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.

Transition to Politics:

After retiring from cricket, Khan entered politics in the mid-1990s, founding PTI in 1996. Initially, his party struggled to gain traction, but over time, PTI grew to become one of Pakistan’s major political forces.

Political Rise:

In the 2013 general elections, PTI emerged as the second-largest party in Pakistan, and Khan became a major opposition leader.

In the 2018 general elections, PTI won the majority of seats, allowing Khan to form a coalition government and become Prime Minister.

Prime Ministership (2018-2022):

As Prime Minister, Imran Khan focused on several key issues:

  1. Anti-Corruption Campaign: Khan promised to root out corruption and improve governance.
  2. Economic Challenges: His government faced economic challenges, with efforts to stabilize the economy, engage with the IMF, and reduce the country’s debt.
  3. Foreign Policy: His administration focused on strengthening ties with China, efforts to mediate peace in Afghanistan, and maintaining balanced relations with both the U.S. and neighboring countries like India.
  4. Social Reforms: Khan also launched various welfare programs aimed at addressing poverty, healthcare, and education.

Ouster from Power:

In April 2022, Imran Khan was ousted from office after a no-confidence vote in parliament. He claimed the move was part of a foreign conspiracy, a claim he reiterated in subsequent public appearances. Since then, Khan has continued to mobilize his supporters and remains a key figure in Pakistani politics, advocating for early elections.

Personal Life:

Imran Khan has been married three times. His first marriage was to British socialite Jemima Goldsmith in 1995, with whom he has two sons. They divorced in 2004. He later married journalist Reham Khan, but the marriage ended after less than a year in 2015. In 2018, he married his spiritual advisor, Bushra Bibi.

Khan is also known for his philanthropic work, including the establishment of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Namal University.

He remains an influential figure in Pakistan, both politically and socially, and continues to shape the political landscape.
